There’s a lot of tension in your home. Sometimes your dad hits your mom. He says he doesn’t mean to and he’s always sorry afterwards, but still, that doesn’t make it any better. You’ve been spending as much time as possible away from your home. Figure it’s safer to get out than get in the way. But lately your younger brother is starting to act just like your dad. Just yesterday he hit your mom – and you!

Part 2 of 2
Now, say you told a counselor at school about what was happening with your dad, and now with your younger brother. Your counselor suggests that the family see a counselor at PAVE or at another facility that deals with Domestic Violence. Your dad throws a fit when he hears about it, and he forbids all of you to go. Your mom is too afraid to disobey. Your brother says he’ll go if you do.
